Stretch Therapy is table-based assisted stretching performed by a certified practitioner.

Stretch Therapy works with the connective tissue system in the body (fascial system) to create more range of motion, reduce tension and stiffness, improve circulation, improve flexibility and accelerate athletic performance.

Stretch Therapy is gentle yet deep, and will leave you feeling longer, lighter and more spacious.

Stretch Therapy works with the nervous system, helping you to relax and drop into a parasympathetic state which promotes healing at a cellular level.

What is FST (Fascial Stretch Therapy) ?

It is always easier to feel a good stretch than to explain it - but we will try our best. FST is a gentle approach to improving range of motion where we listen to your body and guide it towards where it needs to go. FST targets the full fascial nets within the body and the joint capsules, using gentle traction and oscillation to remove restrictions from parts of your body you can't get into on your own. FST has a large emphasis on breathing deep and letting go - so you can relax deeper and accelerate your own natural healing. FST is VERY different than self stretching. Come in and experience it for yourself!

Who is FST for?

If you are a human with a body - FST is for you! Athletes and highly active people use FST for tissue recovery and to ease soreness after intense training sessions, and to fine tune their movement and mobility so they can perform at their very best. Less active people or older folks use FST to keep stiffness at bay, and to encourage a more active lifestyle through gentle, pain free stretching. People recovering from injuries or surgeries use FST to accelerate healing and to bring their range of motion back to healthy levels. Some people come for FST sessions weekly while others may come occasionally for a "tune up". The reality is, most of us simply do not move enough in a day to keep our tissues healthy,  (Thanks computers and chairs!) so in order to live inside a functional and pain-free body we need to keep the body moving and FST is a very efficient and effective way to do that.

What is Fascia?

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds and interweaves muscles, bones, joints and all vital organs in the body. Fascia contributes to the structure and movement of the entire human body. Postural habits, lifestyle choices, repetitive movements from specific sports and aging can alter your fascia - resulting in sticky movement, aches and pains, stiffness, injuries and more. Fascia is one interconnected system, and when it loses its suppleness, pain can transfer from one region to another.

What does a session look like?

FST is performed on a massage table and uses stabilization straps to secure the part of the body that is not being worked on. Clients typically wear comfortable, athletic type clothing. An FST session is customizable to each client depending on their needs and goals. An FST therapist and client work together during each session, moving in and out of stretches while focusing on breath and sensory awareness. FST is a gentle yet deep approach to decreasing tension and increasing overall mobility with lasting results. After the table based stretching work your therapist may guide you through some off the table movements and exercises to help lock in the benefits and to give you tools to take home with you.
